The Grand Canyon, managed by the National Park Service and officially designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts more than 6 million visitors annually. This vast abyss in northern Arizona is a true natural wonder, and people from all over the world travel to marvel at its red-orange splendor. The Grand has expanded, but it does not do justice to the gorge.

This page offers the most convenient service, but be prepared if you are looking for a solitary escape from Mother Nature. The Grand Canyon can be very crowded and is especially popular with hikers and day trippers.

Take a break from the crowds and head to the northern rim for scenic views of the Grand Canyon and its surroundings. There are places for backwood camps and hardcore hikes, but not as many opportunities for day-trippers.

The best time to visit the Grand Canyon is when crowds are thin and temperatures are cool during the day and cool at night. The southern edge is open all year round, but most of the park, including the entire northern edge, closes after the first snowfall. If you decide to visit the parks in summer or in high season, be prepared: the hotel offers are lower in winter due to the lower number of visitors and lower prices than in summer.

The Grand Canyon may seem like the easiest way to get there, but you will have to cope with winding roads and crowded parking lots. Free shuttle buses are available to and from the parking lot on the southern edge of the park.

If you plan to camp at a designated campsite, you will need a permit for the hinterland, so don't forget. If you are visiting in the middle of summer, bring a jacket to keep warm, but expect a cool breeze when the sun sets.

Information on the necessary forms and fees can be found on the NPS website and the National Park Service website for the Grand Canyon National Monument.

The majestic Antelope Canyon is located in the Grand Canyon National Monument, a canyon that covers about one-third of the total area of Grand Canyon National Park. Consider a day trip to Antelopes Canyon, where you have a spectacular view of one of the most beautiful and scenic canyons in America.

Here you will find must-know-must places such as the Grand Canyon National Monument, Antelope Canyon Trail and Great Basin Trail.

Hotel rooms in the park can be quite expensive, so book a place at one of the campsites instead for a fraction of the cost.

If you are on a summer trip, you should be sure that you will find a place to hang up your hat at the end of August. Avoid parking problems by relying on the free parking at Grand Canyon National Park. Remember that you can save money on petrol and car hire, so If it's your summer getaways, you have a good chance of ending up with a car with plenty of room for your car and some money in the bank for gas.

It is one of the easiest ways to explore the southern edge of Grand Canyon National Park, and it is a great place to hike, cycle, hike and camp.

Grand Canyon has several restaurants and grocery stores, which means you don't necessarily have to stock up before entering the park. Many of the Grand Canyon's restaurants are located in Parklodges, including Canyon Lodge, Lodge on the Rim and Grand Lodge on the North Rim. On the north edge there are a number of restaurants, bars, shops and even a grocery store, but many travelers prefer the more casual, rustic restaurants such as the Old Town Cafe or the Biltmore Hotel.

Some travelers have recently said that many of the restaurants in nearby Tusayan, Arizona, were particularly disappointing, but they are still worth a visit.

The Grand Canyon's greatest safety concerns are in outdoor areas, and in fact, many recommend stopping at the Canyon Club, a stop near the entrance to the park's southern edge.

Even experienced hikers can get lost if they do not know the often dangerous paths and get lost while hiking in a well-known park.

Bring plenty of water and sunscreen on your trip and check the weather before you set off. Lightning and summer thunderstorms can be deadly, and the danger can come either from wildlife or lightning strikes.

Visitors should stay at the Grand Canyon Resort and Spa, the only hotel in the park with valet service. Valet parking advises travelers to leave their car in a safe place such as a parking lot, garage or hotel room.

In terms of crime, the Grand Canyon is a relatively safe park, but if you park your car in the gorge, make sure you lock your vehicle and secure your belongings in case of an emergency.

For more information, visit the National Park Service website and the park's website for up-to-date information on road conditions and closures. The best way to circumnavigate the Grand Canyon is by shuttle bus, but if you visit the north end, a car is the most convenient option. On the southern edge, you can take the free shuttle of the National Park Service, which offers free shuttles to and from the northern edge.

Shuttles are available from Phoenix and Las Vegas, but getting to these areas can be more difficult. The Arizona Shuttle, which offers a free shuttle service to and from Grand Canyon National Park, is also available. As with many airports, many travelers choose Phoenix, and if you're landing closer to the canyon, you should approach from the south side of the park.
