Nissan GT-R50 Prototype

The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign is a concept car by Nissan, and it starts with the 600 hp GT-R NISMO. Unlike other concept cars # He's limited to 20km by car, but this thing isn't just a runner - it runs up and down the hills of Goodwood.

Italdesign has developed a Nissan concept for limited production, and it looks as if it will happen. It is clear what has already happened, but if you put lots of new body parts on it, not just double-sided tape, you could.

Italdesign, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, has given Nissan a small birthday present, just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the GT-R at the Geneva Motor Show. During a promotional tour of Goodwood and Pebble Beach Nissan came up to us and offered us a ride. Nissan has designed, accepted and made a car for the future.

The building inspection alone is enough to get attention, but it's like a video game, it pulls you in with a driver - focused interior mostly made of carbon fiber. It is a racing car with four-wheel drive, a high-performance engine and a racing chassis.

Once on board, the Nissan driver admits that the prototype has none of the engine upgrades and is a Gucci - with GT - R NISMO. The car does not have the same engine as the GT-R50, but a 1.5-liter V-8 engine with a 4.0-liter turbocharger.

There is little to say about the driving experience, which I haven't read in previous tests, but people didn't want me to rush to see how much difference it makes. The Michelin Pilot Super Sports are DSSTs, and the redesigned BILSTEIN shock absorbers were not noticed by me while driving. One of the biggest differences in driving the GT - R50 is the outside view or the lack of it. This means that the view from the front and rear view mirrors and from the rear view mirror is significantly worse.

Anyone who has ever sat in a Lamborghini knows what I mean, but the windscreen is not that high And it's a bit like driving a big baseball cap. Although 2 inches doesn't sound much when it comes from above, it can feel like that and you don't get that far back.

The rear wing, which could be used on the driver's side, would block the ride because it completely blocks the small rear view, but there is a bypass windscreen at least. The rear window is so high that you cannot see through, so you often have to crouch down to get a better view. And the above - ground signals disappear and the rear of the car disappears, although not as far back as the front.

If you drive a car that looks like it arrived just in time, like it arrived in a time machine, you have to look out the window a little more closely. The biggest is the need to check the mirrors a few more times, but nowadays this is sacrificed in the name of fashion.

I'm in the minority, but I find the GT - R50 breathtaking and love the small, clear dorsal fins that are suitable for brake lights.

Less is more is the theme in the interior, and the same applies to the GT - the interior of the R50 with its black-and-white colour scheme and black-and-white trim.

The instrument cluster and infotainment system have disappeared, and instead there is a simple Motec CDL3 display. The only visible Nissan parts are the window switches and the air conditioning, but these have also been modified.

If you want to keep the infotainment system and the Gran Turismo screen, you can do that, but if you are a paying customer, you don't, because the 50 cars that could be built are tailored to the wishes and needs of the buyer. The only real rule is that it can't be the same as any other 49-car, so if you want more freedom in design, order your order early. You can install a stereo system if you wish, and I personally would have liked this model in full colour.

Italdesign is what that means, and they put millions of dollars into the car, so they call it the most expensive car of its kind in the history of cars.

It's not the final price of the car, though, it's able to get your name on the list and how you determine the final invoice.

Italdesign then calls Nissan and from there the car is shipped to Italy where it is disassembled, body and interior replaced and fitted with larger brakes, wheels and tyres. A special GT3 engine developed by the same Takumi is built in Japan in the same clean room, fitted to the cars with redesigned shock absorbers and built. Nissan is reportedly set to get 50 serious buyers by then if all goes according to plan.
